Tesco home deliveries and click & collect services have been hit by chaos today after the retailer reported a major issue with its national IT systems.
A computer problem has hit picking operations in many stores used for processing orders, with the retailer forced to cancel hundreds of orders and issue an apology to customers.
The supermarket has blamed unspecified “network issues” for the problem, which has seen deliveries grind to a halt in many areas.
Tesco said it believed the problem was affecting less than 10% of orders in total.
It said it was still investigating the cause of the problems and hoped to have the system back up and running properly as soon as possible.
Tesco said both home delivery and click & collect orders had been affected.
A spokesman said: “We’re currently experiencing an IT issue which is affecting some grocery home shopping orders. We’re working hard to fix this problem and apologise to customers for any inconvenience this may cause.”
