Tesco is moving into the broadband market with the launch of its own-brand internet access service at £19.97 per month.
The service will compete with BT, Wanadoo and AOL high-speed access services, and to entice customers further Tesco is offering free customer service for the first 30 days.
Tesco’s broadband service will be available on CD-Rom in stores and on the company web site and it will allow customers to download as much data as they want, said a report in The Guardian.
This compares to BT’s basic package at a cost of £19.99, which allows 1 gigabyte of data a month, and Wanadoo’s 1 megabit-per-second service, which is limited to 2GB a month, and costs £17.99.
