Tesco is coming to the rescue of bleary-eyed commuters in the capital today in the aftermath of what was expected to be the busiest night for office Christmas parties across the UK.
The retailer has launched a pop-up ‘Hangover Help’ station in three of its London stores.
Located at Canary Wharf, Bishopsgate and Monument Metros, the stores will serving free smoothies and juices. Commuters will also be given recipe cards for breakfast dishes that are designed to rejuvenate them after a big night.
“We know many of our customers will have entered into the festive spirit last night so we’ll be helping them get through the morning with delicious smoothies that give you a lift and leave you feeling fresh,” said London convenience director Rachel Jones, London convenience director. “We’ll also be serving Virgin Bloody Marys, which should help our customers feel fresh and rehydrated.”
The hangover cure recipes provided by Tesco to commuters include:
The Comforter: two thick slices of wholemeal or rye bread filled with crispy bacon, a fried egg, fresh spinach, beef tomato, and avocado slices.
The Peanut Better: Wholemeal flour tortilla spread with peanut butter, a layer of mashed bananas, dark chocolate and marshmallows and sprinkled with cinnamon and a little brown sugar.
The Lifesaver: Juice made up of chilled tomato juice, tabasco, Worcester sauce, celery salt, lemon juice and ice to serve.
The Kickstarter: Smoothie blended with honeydew melon, pineapple chunks, celery stalks, roughly chopped ginger and spinach
