Many of Heinz’s bestselling Beanz, Ketchup and sauce products will not see any rise in price in Tesco following the fmcg giant’s recent pricing spat with the retailer, The Grocer can exclusively reveal.
Tesco and Heinz announced they had buried the hatchet last Friday (8 July) but did not give details at the time.
The Grocer has now learned a swathe of packs of Beanz, Cream of Tomato Soup and Spaghetti Hoops as well as Squeezy Ketchup, Salad Cream and Barbecue sauce bottles – among others – will remain at the same price when they return to stores this week.
For instance, a 4x415g pack of Beanz will remain at £3, while 910g Squeezy Ketchup will stick at £3.15.
In total, 29 SKUs will be held at their pre-dispute prices. Two barbecue sauce SKUs will even see their price reduced.
However, the price of Heinz’s individual soup cans has significantly risen after the price dispute, by as much as 55p in some cases, research using Assosia data reveals.
A 400g can of its Cream of Tomato, Cream of Chicken, Cream of Mushroom and Chicken & Sweetcorn Soups, for example, has risen from 95p to £1.40, according to exclusive Assosia data [8 w/e 13 July 2022].
Heinz Chicken & Vegetable, Lamb & Vegetable, and Steak & Potato Big Soups, meanwhile, have risen from £1.40 to £1.70 in Tesco, our data shows.
The price of 205g packs of its Peppa Pig Pasta Varieties and No Added Sugar Hoops, too, have risen from 55p to 75p.
It is understood Tesco focused on securing prices for products getting heavy use over the summer such as the sauces.
Availability of Heinz goods has not yet been completely restored across Tesco’s store estate, but deliveries to its stores are now being made.
The Grocer has approached Heinz for comment.
