Tesco is hiking the price it pays farmers in its Sustainable Dairy Group by just over 2p per litre.
The supermarket said it would now pay farmers in the group 31.58p per litre for their milk. It said today’s increase - worth 2.02ppl - was in response to rising production costs.
“This increase in the price we pay our 700 dairy farmers means they will continue to benefit from Tesco’s pledge to recognise the true cost of production of milk, and always pay a price above that cost,”said Tesco commercial director Andrew Yaxley.
“We are proud to have led the way in guaranteeing famers get a fair price for their milk – and proud to be a strong supporter of British farmers.”
