Tesco has increased its share of the grocery market to 31.8%, despite grocery market growth slowing to 3% in the three months to the end of August.
According to TNS data market growth was down from a 6% high in May, due to a slowdown in consumer spending and the impact of a price war between Tesco and Asda.
The figures show Asda has 16.8% of the market, while Sainsbury's has 16.1%.
Somerfield saw its market share fall below 4%.
