Gwanipa melons have been launched exclusively in Tesco.
The melon, which is marketed as the Gwanipa Tangy Twist, is known for its citrus twist, and is available in Tesco stores nationwide (rsp: £1.40).
Cultivated in Spain, and exclusively grown by Kernel Export farms in southern regions of the country and supplied by ATM Fruit, the seasonal melon will be available until August.
It offered a “zingy citrus quality while still retaining a classic melon taste, complementing the taste of both categories”, said Tesco’s technical manager James Cackett.
The launch forms part of Tesco’s five-year deal with Spanish firm ATM, signed in 2014, for the supply of citrus fruit.
