Tesco has launched a website selling high-end beauty products including a collagen drink and a £91 moisturiser.
Nutribeautyproducts.com offers products and supplements from more than 50 brands including Dr Hauschka, Weleda and Neal's Yard. Among the products are a £91 moisturiser from Deborah Mitchell's Heaven brand, which the site claims is used by Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.
The site also features a male grooming section that sells products including moisturiser and deodorant from brands including Trilogy and A'kin.
The website which carries no Tesco branding but can be visited directly from a link on the front page of tesco.com takes an ethical stance on sourcing, stating: "Wherever possible we'd like these products to be as natural and considerate to the planet as they can be."
The site also offers advice and gives visitors the opportunity to ask experts health and beauty questions. Tesco said it was "tweaking" the site before launching a publicity push.
The site is a spin-off of the Nutricentre health and nutrition business acquired by Tesco in 2007. There are currently 13 Nutricentre stores. Most are in Tesco Extras and there is also a flagship store in Central London. Products stocked by Nutricentre include vitamins and minerals, herbal and holistic remedies and health supplements.
The retailer, which is thought to be considering further Nutricentre stores, said Nutribeautyproducts.com was an e-commerce-only venture and it had no plans to roll it out to stores.
