Tesco has boosted its spirits range with an ‘ethical’ craft gin made in partnership with water charity The One Foundation.
The 43% abv One Gin is made with nine botanicals from around the world as well as fresh English sage, giving it “an overall aromatic nose of sweet and dry citrus, fresh sage and juniper, leading to a warm, savoury finish”, said Tesco.
It hit shelves as part of the retailer’s BWS range review this month (rsp: £30/70cl).
One Gin was created by The One Foundation’s sister brand, The Spirit of One. Ten per cent of the profit from each bottle sold goes to the charity, which works to provide clean drinking water across the globe and combat waterborne diseases.
Tesco was “confident the story behind the brand and the work that is done with the proceeds will be hugely popular”, said its gin buyer Andrew Hargreaves, adding the retailer was “looking at other ways that we can help The One Foundation in the future, so they can help even more people get access to clean water around the world”.
