Tesco has promoted Blinkbox founder Michael Comish to a new position of group digital officer, as it continues to ramp up its expansion into online TV, music and books.
Comish will work with Tesco to shape its multichannel strategy to bring what Tesco described as a “more customer-led approach to online services”.
The retailer is due to open a new 30,000 sq ft digital campus in central London in the autumn, bringing together its digital entertainment services, including the recently launched Clubcard TV.
Canadian-born Comish co-founded Blinkbox in 2006 and the service was acquired by Tesco in May 2011.
Tesco’s other digital entertainment services include Blinkboxmusic and Blinkboxbooks - for music and ebook downloads respectively, currently in development – and Clubcard TV, an ad-supported video service. Clubcard TV recently added exclusive content and BBC and ITV programmes from the archive to its offering.
