Tesco is trialling a free taxi service in London Transport zones one and two to help customers with heavy shopping.
Shoppers can hail or book black cabs, operated by Radio Taxis, provided they can produce a Tesco receipt printed on the same day as they use the service.
Radio Taxis will field 20 Tesco-branded taxis to ferry customers home between Monday and Friday from the hours of 11am to 7pm. The trial will last for four weeks.The retailer is considering rolling out the service across the UK.
A spokesman for the multiple said: “The Tesco Taxi Service is a first from a UK retailer and is another way of making life easier for London customers.”
