Tesco has rolled out its new mobile payments app, PayQwiq, to every store in the UK, after what it claimed was a positive reaction to customers involved in trials.
The app allows customers using either Android and iOS smartphones to pay and collect Clubcard points with one scan of their phone, up to a single transaction limit of £250.
The app also provides customers with their transaction history and prominently displays their Clubcard points balance.
The move to go national comes after Tesco launched the digital wallet to 1,400 stores in December.
“PayQwiq offers customers a simple, convenient and secure way to pay that helps them save time at the checkout and collect Clubcard points with one simple scan of their smartphone,” said digital wallet and group payments strategy director Mark Loch.
“Since the initial rollout of PayQwiq, customer feedback has been very positive and we are delighted to make PayQwiq available to all Tesco customers across the UK.”
Until 7 May, new PayQwiq customers downloading the app will receive 50 Clubcard points with each of their first 10 transactions, while additional existing customers will also receive 50 Clubcard points with each of their next 10 transactions, Tesco added.
