Tesco has sold its CTN chain Dillons Stores to TM Retail. The 181-store chain was part of T&S Stores which was acquired by Tesco in a £530m deal in October 2002.
TM Retail operate 1,161 stores across the UK under the McColls, Forbuoys and Martins fascias, and has opened six jointly branded stores with Somerfield.
TM Retail managing director David Saunders said: “We see the integration as something which can be achieved quickly and smoothly. At present there is no intention to change the various Dillons fascias as we have long and proven experience of operating businesses under different fascias.”
He added: “This deal ensures that those customers across the UK wanting home news delivery and news and magazine ranges that are tailored to fit specific locations and customer profiles will continue to have their demands met. It will also secure the future of Dillons staff.
