Tesco is confident of victory in its legal battle with designer jeans firm Levi Strauss over the right to sell imported designer clothes at discount prices. Lawyers representing Tesco and warehouse club operator Costco went head to head with the clothing firm in the European Court of Justice this week to settle a long running dispute over whether top brands have the right to dictate where and how their products are sold. Judges were told Levi refused to supply Tesco on the grounds supermarkets do not have the required ambience or sufficiently trained staff to sell designer products. A decision from the European court is not expected until the summer. {{NEWS }}
