Tesco has increased the proportion of its flowers sourced from Britain in light of the weakening pound.
The chain claimed it had become cheaper to buy British flowers than Dutch, and said it was now sourcing the equivalent of £10m more UK flowers a year.
British tulips and daffodils have gone on sale this month, and will be followed by other varieties such as gladioli, peonies, stocks, bluebells and lilies.
Tesco estimated that UK growers could gain an extra £50m of business if the leading supermarkets all followed its lead in switching to British.
