Tesco has unveiled two own-label ranges aimed at supporting shoppers’ digestive health and increasing their protein intake, respectively.
Gut Sense, a dedicated own-label range aimed at supporting gut health, has debuted with a quartet of kefir drinks and yoghurts.
They are: Natural/Plain Kefir Drink, Raspberry Kefir Drink (both £1.75/500ml), Natural Kefir Yoghurt and Red Berries & Cherry Yoghurt (both £1.50/350g).
All of the products are made with British milk and contain 14 different strains of live kefir cultures.
According to Tesco, its customers searched for ‘kefir’ almost 80,000 times, and the words ‘gut health’ more than 6,000 times on Tesco.com in January 2024.
The popularity of these search terms demonstrated “a growing demand for looking after digestive health and affordable, accessible products like these”, said Tesco.
“People are looking for more support to maintain good digestive health, particularly with the gut influencing so many bodily functions, so being able to introduce the new Gut Sense Kefir yoghurts was really important to us,” said Danielle Simpson, Tesco brand manager for own brand health.
Meanwhile, Tesco’s High Protein range (prices from 95p-£3) features 15 new products, including high-protein yoghurts, breakfast granolas, pancakes, flatbreads, and ready-to-cook frozen meals.
The yoghurts are fat-free and provide 20g per 200g portion. Meanwhile, the frozen ready meals weigh in at under 500 calories each and contain one or two portions of vegetables.
