Tesco.com is delaying a decision on whether to introduce premium rate charges for peak time deliveries until mid-September.
It had been expected to announce nationwide implementation of three-tier delivery charges this week following trials in Hertfordshire and Essex.
But a spokesman said Tesco will be analysing data from the ongoing trials for another two months.
Last month the supermarket said customer feedback to the regional trials of a system of peak, off-peak and standard charges for deliveries had been "very positive". In trial areas Tesco charges £3.99 for off-peak deliveries. Between noon and 5pm the usual £5 applies, and for those who want "peak" time delivery the cost is £6.49.
