Hamish Renton, project leader for a number of Tesco health-related initiatives, has left the retail giant.
A spokeswoman for Tesco confirmed that the search was on for his replacement.
Although the spokeswoman was unable to confirm which company Renton would be joining, she said that it was more than likely a food manufacturer.
Renton worked on numerous health projects, including the Healthy Living, Finest, Free From, Fair Trade, Carb Control and Kids ranges for Tesco. He also lent his personal experience to Tesco’s Glyacaemic Index (GI) labelling scheme, helping Tesco become the first UK supermarket to label its products with the index. The scheme won Best Consumer Initiative at this year’s The Grocer Gold Awards.
Renton also co-authored the GI Guide which explained the diet to consumers.
