Tesco is poised for the global launch of a new HR computer system in a deal with software provider PeopleSoft. A spokesman for PeopleSoft said it provided HR software for other multiples such as M&S, Waitrose and Sainsbury and was set to announce a deal with Safeway. The package will allow Tesco to manage HR processes such as payroll operations on the internet, rather than from a central UK base, and will reduce paperwork and manual errors. It will be installed by Tesco in the UK and Thailand shortly and rolled out to eight other countries from 2003. PeopleSoft vice president and UK general manager Dale Thomas commented: "By moving vital business processes online, Tesco will achieve true competitive advantage." {{NEWS }}
