Thai Beverage, Thailand’s largest brewery which makes the country’s best-selling beer brand, Beer Chang, has had its request to list on the stock exchange postponed due to protests from Buddhist monks.
The company aimed to make about Bt50bn ($3.1bn) in an initial public offering that would be the largest in the history of the country’s stock exchange.
But protests from Buddhist monks and large demonstrations by anti-drinking advocates saying the listing is ‘immoral’ hs caused the stock exchange to indefinitely postpone the decision.
