The world’s first Fairtrade wine brand has launched a dual varietal wine in the range into the UK.
Distributor Omnia Wines has released Thandi’s Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot 2005 exclusively into the Co-op, priced at £4.99.
The wine is blended from grapes harvested in Stellenbosch, South Africa, and allows emerging farmers to reap the rewards of marketing their products in the UK. Maria Gallup, the Co-op’s wine buyer, said: “Thandi stands out in consumers’ minds as a high quality brand with a conscience.”
Thandi was the first wine brand to receive Fairtrade accreditation in 2003.
