The Bisto brand is a favourite within our family and as such I was expecting quite a lot from this new product. The packaging, which is bright and makes the newcomer stand out, added to my high expectations. However, I am not a big fan of frozen croquettes as I feel the products currently available in this sector are lacking quality. I was pleasantly surprised when I tasted Bisto Croquettes. It has a very nice taste and texture and comes across as a premium offering. I will be buying Bisto Croquettes again and would feel happy to serve them when family and friends come round for tea.
Score: 22/25

When I heard of this product, an image of croquettes flavoured in gravy sprang to mind. Not so. These are normal, everyday croquette potatoes using the Bisto branding. Packaging is bright and inviting with a good shot of the finished product on the front. Cooking options are either in the oven for 18 minutes or deep fried - no microwave option. I cooked them in the oven and, on tasting, the product was alright, a bit bland, but what do you want from mashed potato covered in breadcrumbs? It has to be said that the product is premium quality. However, it will need to be promoted to encourage trial.
