From 11am, we’ll live-stream our New Own-Label Awards Virtual Event, recognising the most outstanding products from the UK’s leading grocers
Join The Grocer on Friday 14 October in celebrating cutting-edge innovation in private-label food and drink.
From 11am, we’ll live-stream our New Own-Label Awards Virtual Event, recognising the most outstanding products from the UK’s leading grocers.
The annual New Own-Label Awards competition is a celebration of quality, diversity and innovation in own-brand groceries, with a focus on those launched, reformulated or repackaged in the past 18 months. This year’s contest kicked off in May, attracting an abundance of entries.
Each was subjected to robust judging by Grocer journalists and industry heavyweights including IPLC partner Richard Harrow, Samworth Brothers senior category manager Heather Yazgi and veteran development chef Dan Bell.
They spent a jam-packed two days scrutinising goods across 38 categories, from alcoholic drinks and bread & baked goods to world cuisine and yoghurts & potted desserts.
Each item was scored on 10 criteria, including appearance, taste & aroma, value for money, and packaging.
Based on their final scores, every product will be awarded a gold, silver or bronze medal next week at our virtual event – which will also include a presentation by Fraser McKevitt, head of retail & consumer insight at Kantar, on how own label is evolving.
Register your interest in attending.
The Grocer New Own-Label Awards competition made its debut in 2021, to allow retailers to promote product quality, innovation and value in their own private-label offers.
Last year’s programme received hundreds of submissions from 12 major retailers keen to demonstrate their great work in own-label NPD.
Among the winners were Waitrose The Levantine Table Almond & Orange Blossom Cupcakes, Aldi Specially Selected Le Swiss Gruyère AOP Reserve, and Tesco Beautifully Balanced Hot Smoked Salmon with a Creamy Lemon Sauce.
