The Lakes Distillery has unveiled Steel Bonnets, a blend of English and Scotch whiskies.
The name of the 46.6% abv dram (rsp: £65/70cl) was inspired by English and Scottish people who lived on the border in the 13th-17th centuries, nicknamed ‘Steel Bonnets’ for the helmets they wore.
The new tipple had “a creamy, slightly nutty and full-bodied flavour with notes of vanilla, ginger, nutmeg and hints of dried fruit” said Lakes Distillery master whiskymaker Dhavall Gandhi.
