Ecuador has an untapped potential for exotic and tropical fruit in the UK, said Terence Jansz, president of export group Selvatica.
The company, which is looking for business partners, was exhibiting at IFE for the first time in a bid to tempt buyers with its range of mangoes, papaya, limes, pineapples and plantain.
Selvatica’s sister company Adelco has its own production areas and a central packhouse, which it hires out to other producers.
Jansz said: “Some of these growers are small, but they have the expertise and are looking for alternative crops to bananas, which are mainly controlled by the multinationals.”
