Anthony Thompson has rejoined Marks & Spencer as its director of childrenswear.
Thompson joined US fashion retailer Gap in 2000 as senior vice president Europe, responsible for building the brand in the UK, France and Germany.
His career began in Marks & Spencer in 1984. He rose to senior manager in store planning before leaving to join Arthur Andersen in 1995 as a retail consultant. Two years later he joined publisher Blackwell’s retail division as MD, becoming group chief executive in 1998.
Thompson said: “Childrenswear has a huge amount of potential and I look forward to working with a great team of people to meet the challenge of growing the business.”
