Great Yarmouth-based Thompsons Food Service has tripled its capacity with its newly opened warehouse.
The 30,000 sq ft site is three times bigger than its previous space, and will allow the wholesaler to stock more lines as well as expand its cash & carry arm.
The new facility also has new sustainable features compared with its previous warehouse, including new energy-efficient refrigerator machinery leading to 75% reduction of the site’s energy usage.
The specialist in ice cream and seasonal frozen treats is now targeting a 10% turnover increase over the next year based on improved operations.
“We’ve only been in our new warehouse for a short period of time, but we’re already starting to feel the benefits from this move,” said Thompsons Food Service director Ryan Thompson.
“We’ve always been a business that’s looked for ways to grow our operations, and with us reaching maximum capacity at our old place, this was the perfect time for us to move into a much bigger premises.
“The busy summer period has been easier to manage compared to previous years, with all of us in the business enjoying our new base.
“I’ve been in the business since I was 17, and in that time, we’ve gone from a family butchers to a food supplier to almost all of Great Yarmouth’s leisure and hospitality businesses.”
