Off-licence chain Thresher Group has been sold for the second time in as many weeks.
Private equity firm Vision Capital yesterday purchased a 75% stake in the group and acquired household goods retailer BrightHouse from a consortium led by private equity firm Edmund Truell, in a deal worth £250m.
The consortium picked up the group, which operates around 2,000 Threshers, The Local, Wine Rack and Haddows stores, two weeks ago from private equity firm Terra Firma.
In a statement, the consortium said that during its brief ownership of Threshers, it had “acted rapidly” to secure the retailer's £85m pension fund.
“We are pleased to have successfully agreed the sale of these two companies whilst enhancing the security of the Threshers pension fund,” the consortium added.
