Nine on-trade wholesalers have joined Today’s Group.
The new members are Dayla, Tolchards, ABV Wholesale, Island Ales, Maison Maurice, Small Beer, Swallow, Thorne Licensed and Young’s Beers, Wines and Spirits. They are all part of specialist buying group NDD (National Drinks Distribution) with on-trade volumes totalling £135m.
Their membership means Today’s Group now boasts on-trade members with a total volume worth £450m.
“We are delighted to welcome this very large number of highly professional operators to our family of businesses,” said Today’s Group MD Bill Laird.
“At a time of significant sector consolidation, we are very proud that our new members have recognised they can have the support and back up of the UK’s number-one buying organisation without compromising their independence or entrepreneurial advantage.”
Tim Cooper, chairman of NDD and owner of Dayla, added: “Our members had various options available to them for the future and we considered each very carefully before making this very important decision. Although Today’s are the dominant buying group in the UK we were persuaded more by their genuine desire to support wholesalers large and small.”
News of Today’s Group’s new members comes just three weeks after rival buying group Landmark Wholesale bagged six new on-trade members and launched a drive to develop the on-trade arm of its business.
