Nisa-Today's wholesaling arm Today’s Group has announced its best trading figures since 2003, despite the economic downturn.
The Today's Group said 21st birthday promotions and a strong trading package had led to value sales being up 12.7% and volume up 9.1% year-on-year in 2008.
"The end of year results for the Today's Group are fantastic and the best we've seen in five years," said Nick Barker, trading director.
"There has been strong, sustained growth across all of the categories and there are two main factors contributing to this.
"Our Retail Club experienced record growth in 2008, and initiatives such as our Plan for Profit scheme, which has continued to evolve since its launch last year, provide added benefits for our members."
The licensed category performed strongly, up 15.8% in value, as did general grocery up 12.4% in value, while grocery non foods showed the largest volume increase of 17.1%, up 8.6% in value.
"The success we've experienced is another great example of the superb working relationship our members have with the Today's Group trading team," said MD Rod Hunt. "These excellent figures are testament to the high level of member support we receive."
