Kent-based wholesaler Q Catering has appointed Tony Blake as its new commercial director.
Blake is the third hire the business has made from rival Kent Frozen Foods (KFF) in recent months, after the appointment of Caroline Martin as sales director, and Nick Jennings as financial director last year.
He previously held senior positions at Brakes and most recently at KFF, where spent 18 years and led a number of business initiatives.
His career in foodservice began at his family’s grocer in Devon when he was a child. He then trained and worked as a chef at a number of high-end hotels across the UK.
In his new role, Blake will be in charge of the procurement, marketing and supply chain teams, helping to improve efficiencies and relationships with suppliers.
Blake said that one of his goals would be to introduce new and innovative products to clients within the independent sector and to continuously improve the business offering more generally.
“I am thrilled to join Steve, Caroline, and Nick at Q Catering at this exciting period of growth,” said Blake.
“I’ve worked with them all in previous roles so know we have a great foundation for success and am confident we will reach the £20m goal.
“This role allows me to do what I enjoy most, working with good suppliers, high-quality products, and creating stronger working partnerships.”
