How they performed
The United Norwest Society Co-op on Berry Road in Longridge, Lancashire was clean and tidy when our mystery shopper visited. She was pleased with the service she got from helpful and polite staff but was unable to find a 6-pack of unsmoked bacon as the shop only stocks 8-packs of the product.
"A good little convenience store" was the summary from our mystery shopper after she left the Londis store on Boundary Road in West Bridgford, Nottingham. The store was well kept and the staff packed her bags for her. She was able to buy all the items on her shopping list, except Stella Artois 4 x 440ml packs, which the store did not stock.
Our shopper at the Nisa store in Woodford, Stockport was not able to fill his shopping basket. However, there were several promotions on items he was looking for: a 50%-more free offer on Tetley's tea, a buy-two-for-£1.50 deal on Fairy washing up liquid and a buy two for £2.30 offer on the 2-litre bottle of Coca Cola.
The Spar on Auchinairn Road in Glasgow was clean and relatively easy to shop, although some aisles were cluttered. However, the store only stocked 4 x 500ml packs of Stella Atrois beer, rather than 4 x 440ml packs. The store also had an offer of 50% extra free on Tetley's tea.
The Tesco Express on Bawtry Road in Rotherham was very busy when our mystery shopper visited. The store is part of a petrol station on a busy highway. There was no overhead signage inside the store, which made it difficult for her to navigate. However, she was eventually able to find all the items she needed, except for a 6-pack of unsmoked bacon rashers.
