PepsiCo is taking Tropicana into lemonade for the first time but only the still kind.
Tropicana Still Lemonades hit chillers this week in traditional and pink lemonade flavours (rsp: £2.20/900ml and £1.17/300ml).
The drinks were the first-ever range of still lemonades to be made from 100% fruit juice with no added sugar, claimed PepsiCo. They contain sweet grapefruit and apple to reduce sharpness. The pink variant contains raspberry juice.
"The still lemonades on the market do not carry the 100% fruit juice claim," said Tropicana marketing manager Peter Charles. "We see the drinks playing into afternoons and evenings as an alternative to alcohol. It'll be popular among connoisseurs and older consumers who want healthiness and tastiness."
PepsiCo said it would support the launch with a "substantial" marketing investment, including a TV campaign from April.
