South African wine Kumala is launching its first TV ad campaign next week.
Brand owner Western Wines is pumping £700,000 into a 20-second commercial for its flagship brand. The ad will appear in the Midlands and Central TV regions and features the gecko in Kumala’s ongoing press campaigns.
The animated lizard is given a “cooler, streetwise personality” as the commercial follows him walking across a desert in the path of a charging rhino. As the rhino comes to a dramatic halt, the gecko adjusts his quiff, brushes the beast aside and continues his stroll, as the ad closes with the tagline ‘Smooth’.
To back up the TV commercial, Western Wines is introducing two new six-sheet outdoor executions.
