Former Nisa-Today’s category controller for wine, Julian Twaites, has moved over to Booker to become the cash and carry’s wine controller.
He is filling the position vacated by the long-serving Andrea Hargrave, who announced her departure in March. She had been at Booker for 14 years and was responsible for developing its own-label range of more than 300 wines for the independent trade. Her mission was to create a “value brand without a cheap image”.
Twaites has said that he will be concentrating on putting “personality back into the bottle” and that he sees room for improvement in the own-label range.
Twaites was category controller for wine at Nisa-Today’s for three years. Prior to that, he was a buyer at Thresher.
