Twinings has announced the appointment of Claire Hodge as managing director for UK & Ireland.
She will take on the role on 1 January, replacing Liam McNamara, who has been promoted within owner company Associated British Foods to sales director at Allied Bakeries.
Hodge joined Twinings in 2006 as marketing director, before moving in 2010 to her current position as director of global innovation & marketing. She will be succeeded by Heather Hartridge, UK&I marketing director since in 2013.
Twinings is the UK’s second-biggest name in tea, though value sales have slipped 1.9% to £107.9m on volumes down 9.4% [Nielsen 17 September 2016].
McNamara’s leadership had helped the brand shore up its position, said Twinings CEO Bob Tavener. “He has played a critical role in the business’ winning strategy.”
Tavener added he was confident the brand would “go from strength to strength” under Hodge. “She brings with her a range of valuable strategic marketing, innovation and general management experience.”
Hodge said she looked forward to “continuing Liam’s excellent work”.
