Scotmid’s chief executive John Brodie has made two new senior appointments to help him take the Scottish co-op society forward.
Colin McLean, former MD of Boots Services, signed on the dotted line this week to become Scotmid’s head of trading. He will lead the food, Semi-Chem and funeral businesses.
McLean’s retail career started on the shopfloor at Marks and Spencer, eventually working his way up to head of buying for M&S food. He has also been buying director at Currys, commercial director at Argos and trading director at Littlewoods. He is returning home to Edinburgh.
Brodie has also brought in former finance director of Scottish & Newcastle International, John Dalley, as chief financial officer. He comes from a retailing background, as his family ran a chain of Spars.
