Udi’s Gluten Free has expanded its portfolio with Peri Peri BBQ Tortilla crisps.
The flavoured snacks, which went into Asda yesterday (rsp: £2/200g), take the brand’s portfolio to 46 lines. It already supplies Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda and Waitrose with its bagels, bread loaves, crisps and granola.
The NPD was the first in a line of gluten-free snacking innovations from the brand set to be introduced throughout the next few months, said brand manager Holly Wales, adding there was a “big opportunity” within this sector.
“We are now in an established position of providing such a wide range of consumer goods that not only do we cater for the 1% of diagnosed coeliacs, but also the increasing number of UK consumers living a gluten-free lifestyle.”
Last October, Udi’s became the first free-from brand to have its own branded bay in Tesco. Simon Hazlett, UK MD at owner Boulder Brands, said at the time that the aim was for Udi’s to become a “one stop shop” for gluten-free.
