Unilever has rolled out a new range of Baby Dove biodegradable baby wipes.
The wipes are billed as being made from “naturally derived plant fibres”, and biodegrade in 42 days ”whilst retaining the same gentle ingredients to care for baby’s delicate skin” (rsp: £2).
The wipes “offer a convenient solution to parents and we’re proud to be the first major brand in the UK to launch biodegradable wipes which are kind to delicate skin and the planet”, said Unilever UK & Ireland personal care VP Chris Barron.
The brand has also unveiled two new ‘Calming Nights’ products: a head-to-toe wash and a baby lotion. Both were made with “100% skin-natural nutrients to replenish essential moisture and nutrients in delicate baby skin”, said Unilever (rsp: £4/400ml).
They were “specially formulated with the calming scent of warm milk” and designed to help babies relax before bedtime.
It comes after Unilever last year kicked off a raft of measures across the Dove brand “to accelerate the global beauty industry’s progress to address plastic waste”.
These included completely ditching plastic from single packs of Dove Beauty Bars and researching a way to replace the bars’ outer plastic wrap with an alternative material, as well as rolling out bottles made of 100% recycled plastic “where technically feasible” by the end of the year.
