Unilever is launching a trio of Wall’s NPD to commemorate the ice cream brand’s 100th birthday.
They are: Viennetta Birthday Cake, Strawberry Milkshake lollies and limited-edition 100 Year Rocket lollies.
Viennetta Birthday Cake combines vanilla- and strawberry-flavoured ice cream with crisp chocolate layers, topped with multi-coloured sprinkles.
The new flavour will mark 40 years since Viennetta sold its first-ever dessert, in addition to Wall’s’ centenary.
Strawberry Milkshake lollies, meanwhile, comprise a strawberry outer layer and a vanilla ice cream centre, weighing in at 60 calories per serve.
The packaging was designed to “exude a retro look and feel”, said Unilever.
Finally, 100 Year Rocket lollies are a reimagining of Wall’s 1960s Sky Ray Rocket lollies, this time featuring blueberry, strawberry and blackcurrant flavours.
Available in a multipack of nine, the limited-edition lollies – which contain 9.9g sugar and provides 44 calories each – join the brand’s ‘Responsibly Made for Kids’ range.
100 Year Rocket lollies and Viennetta Birthday Cake have already rolled into Asda (rsp: £1.84-£2.50).
Viennetta Birthday Cake will also hit the freezer aisles in Tesco, Morrisons and Waitrose from March.
Strawberry Milkshake lollies will roll into Iceland from March (rsp: £3/8x62ml).
“For 100 years, Wall’s has brought happiness to the nation with its delicious ice cream delights”, said Unilever UK&I marketing director Horácio Cal.
The new launches offered “the perfect way to help shoppers and retailers mark the special occasion with us”, he added.
Unilever has also added a Soft Cookie and Chocolate flavour to its Wall’s Cornetto Soft lineup. The new flavour has rolled into Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda, Morrisons and Waitrose stores in multipacks of four (rsp: £3.50/4x140ml).
Cornetto Soft was awarded as The Grocer’s ‘Top Launch’ in the ice cream category of its Top Products Survey 2021.
