Unilever is tapping the mermaid trend with a new ice cream flavour from its Wall’s Cornetto brand.
Cornetto Mermaid is one of three new launches under the Wall’s brand, which has also added two new products to its Calippo range of ice lollies.
Cornetto Mermaid, which will be launching into Sainsbury’s and Tesco, brought “a touch of enchantment” to the ice cream category and would “appeal to gen Z and millennials” said Unilever.
The single ice cream (rsp: £1.20/120ml) comprises a pink cone filled with matcha and raspberry flavoured ice cream and raspberry sauce, while the multipack version (rsp: £3/4x90ml) combines raspberry and vanilla flavoured ice cream. Both variants are topped with edible pearls and starfish shapes.
The supplier has also added two new SKUs to the Wall’s Calippo range.
Calippo Cola was a new flavour, while Calippo Lime was already available in multipacks and was now launching as a single for out-of-home.
The ice lollies contain 90 and 93 calories respectively and have launched in single stick formats (rsp: £1.10/105ml).
