Unilever is to introduce a range of chilled dairy food products under the Conimex brand at supermarkets in Holland from September.
The Anglo-Dutch maker of Hellmann’s mayonnaise and Dove soap said the market for chilled dairy-cream products in the Netherlands was worth 1.3bn euros, with growth between 4% and 5% each year. The chilled ready meals market is estimated at 138m euros, growing at 16% each year.
The Anglo-Dutch group will launch three alternatives to cream, based on a mixture of milk and vegetable fats and a number of chilled ready meals including five different single-portion wok meals.
Unilever chairman Anthonie Stal said the move to the new chilled products would tap into “new markets which have shown healthy growth for years and are still developing rapidly”.
