Unilever has agreed to pay Mars an unspecified sum in compensation to end a dispute over ice cream sales.
The row began in 1991 when Mars said Unilever's strategy of giving branded freezers to Irish retailers on the condition they stocked only Unilever ice cream was anti-competitive.
In 2006, the European Court of Justice backed a Court of First Instance judgement that the exclusivity arrangement represented a financial barrier to new suppliers, prompting Mars to seek compensation.
Unilever said the settlement was not an admission of guilt, and it had not used freezer-cabinet exclusivity in the UK since 2000.
