Unilever has agreed to sell its Iberia Foods business Stateside to an affiliate of the Brooklyn Bottling Group in New York.
The Anglo-Dutch group said Iberia Foods has annual sales of $43m and caters to the Hispanic-American market through more than 3,000 East Coast supermarkets, wholesalers and distributors.
As part of the deal Iberia will continue to distribute certain Unilever products through BBG.
Unilever said the sale was part of its five-year Path to Growth strategy to cut its number of brands from 1,600 to 400 by 2004.
