Unilever is to take over sales and distribution of dairy-free frozen desserts brand Swedish Glace.
Unilever acquired brand owner Ingman Ice Cream a year ago and will take over marketing of Swedish Glace from distributor Fayrefield Foods in January. The brand is valued at just under £3m [SymphonyIRI 52 w/e to 27 October 2012].
Swedish Glace would bolster Unilever’s offering within ice cream at a time when demand for diet-specific products was growing, said senior category manager Faye Brandford. “The plan is to develop greater brand recognition on a nationwide level,” she added.
Unilever already sells ice cream brands including Ben & Jerry’s and Magnum in the UK.
