Union Market, the supermarket-cum-farmers market that opened in London’s trendy Fulham 18 months ago, has fallen into administration.

The 5,500 sq ft store was situated in the ticket office of the former Fulham Broadway Tube station and sold British seasonal produce. Like Whole Foods Market, it also had deli counters and a restaurant.

The store was forced to close following a rent increase and increased parking charges, joint owner Crispin Odey told the Evening Standard. The site is understood to have now been leased to US restaurant The Cheesecake Factory for its UK debut.

Whole Foods Market is to open on Fulham Broadway next year.
