Uniq has bought the Minsterley desserts business from Northern Foods for £16.5m.
Shropshire-based Minsterley is a manufacturer of own label desserts, which are sold principally under the Marks & Spencer and Asda retailer brands. It also manufacturers a range of branded dairy desserts under licence.
The sale is expected to be completed later this month with Minsterley’s 520 odd employees being transferred to Uniq.
Chief executive of Uniq Bill Ronald said: “This will be a very positive step for Uniq - the investment in a top class facility will reinforce our leadership position in the growing UK desserts marketplace.”
