Herb supplier VHB has introduced new packaging to its Wow Micro Leaves, providing up to three extra days’ shelf life.

New closed boxes provide darkness to slow the growth of the micro-leaves to ensure they retain their flavour and remain fresher for longer. Previously they were sold in open boxes.

Wow is targeted at chefs and foodservice - it is sold through Compass Group - but VHB said it was looking to develop more own-label business in retail. It already supplies pea shoots and garlic chives for Sainsbury’s own label.

The Wow range includes peashoots, rocket, garlic chives, red amaranth and purple shiso.
