Vimto is to shake up Panda drinks after buying the brand from Hall & Woodhouse for an undisclosed sum.
The soft drinks division of Nichols plans to review the kids’ range, introduce new products, delist underperforming lines and amend the ingredients lists of some varieties.
Additional marketing support in the shape of above-the-line advertising is also planned.
Glenn Hudson, managing director of Vimto Soft Drinks, said there was a great deal of new product development currently under way. “Buyers already have a very positive view of Panda but we won’t be
afraid to drop products as some have a great rate of sale, and some don’t.”
Panda products will be positioned at a younger audience than Vimto, added Hudson, with an emphasis on ‘good for you’. “We’ll also look at the sugar content of the drinks as we’re keen to make sure the products meet children’s needs.”
Former Panda softs drinks owner Hall & Woodhouse is now concentrating on its beer and pub brands.
