Australian bread specialist Vogel’s is launching an assault on the £1bn-plus cereals market.
The manufacturer is throwing three new premium offerings into the arena, all free from artificial flavours, colours and preservatives and suitable for vegetarians. Heading the range, Vita Pro is a gluten-free, vitamin and protein enriched soy cereal with honey and cinnamon. Ultra Brand Soy and Linseed is a wheat-bran combination with linseed, minerals and vitamins, while Soytana features honey-coated soy and wheat blended with Australian sultanas.
All the cereals are also said to be high in fibre and to contain less than 1.5g of fat and 0.3g of sodium per serving. They also contain ‘Hi-maize’, a functional pre-biotic ingredient said to improve bowel health.
However, all three will be at the premium end of the arena, retailing for between £2.75 and £3.45 depending on the variant. Distribution will be handled by Britannia Health Products.
Sales and marketing manager Chris Drew said: “We are confident the cereals will be very popular.”
